SV spherical valve features:

  • capability of the valve emergency closing in the stream of water at maximum flow rate
  • when the spherical valve is closed, the rotor and trunnions are not loaded by axial hydraulic thrust (they are loaded for a short time during opening and closing), which considerably extends the spherical valve service life
  • service seal (metal-to-metal)
  • maintenance seal (metal-to-metal) is intended for replacing the service seal under the protection of the maintenance seal without dewatering the penstock
  • two rows of seals in the trunnion bearings
  • manually driven locking member for fixing the rotor (to perform operations in a safe manner under the protection of the valve)
  • limit switches for the valve closed and open positions
  • electrical interlock to prevent the rotor rotation until the maintenance seal and locking member are open
  • drainage from the valve body
  • maintenance seal bypass
